Hello Hello Welcome back to the retail initiative of podcasts I am so glad that you're here I had a coaching call with a client and this client was was telling me just how overwhelmed they are and there's so much to do. Updating and keeping website going. It's just a lot and I think that a lot of us probably feel that I know in my own ways that I definitely have I feel like I have a to do list like literally a mile high of things that I want to do or that I'm working on or that my team is waiting on me for you name it I. Can relate and this ah this particular client who's an amazing retailer and someone that I look up to in so many ways was sharing with me. You know their struggle to um, like come up with these collections in shopify for like hero images and. Um, constantly having to create new collections and put things in it for their heroes and um, just how much time all that was taking and if you if you are online already. You probably understand what that feeling is like and um, you know I kind of let I let this person finish and then eventually I stop and I'm like so what. Why do you think that you have to come up with all of these super unique collections all the time. Why and they were like well I don't know it's just kind of what I thought I should do and I'm going to make this episode a little short because if you are like me then you have a lot to do. Um, and that's what this person needed they needed time they needed to be able to focus on the things that were movinging the needle and like if you're a clothing store. You know, creating that fifteenth collection around dresses maybe isn't what's necessary instead. Maybe we could just. Reframe the value that your dress is provided in in a new and unique way and create our things off of that and it's not actually about collections. It's not about side updates those are examples What this is really about is how many times in our business. Do we get caught up in a detail that we think is so important and we spend so much time on it on perfecting it and making it right and doing something really not even because we know that it's right, but off of the assumption that it's what we should do. It's off of the assumption that it's what we should do. And what I want to encourage you to do is what if you pulled back a little bit and said hey why am I focusing on the things I'm focusing on why am I spending time doing X Y and Z when it doesn't improve the customer experience. That's where we want to put our time if it at the end of the day if it does not.

Um, increase your revenue if it does not improve the way you can serve your customer. Um, or if it does not free you to do what you love and do best then is it really worth spending your time energy or resources on I would say probably not and so what's that thing for you. What thing could you maybe let go of what thing could you maybe pull back or look at repurposing some existing strategy um instead of um and you know instead of reinventing the wheel. What if that meant that you. Recorded videos and did Tiktok and reels as the same videos maybe obviously without branding instead of feeling like you had to do everything different based on the platform. Ah maybe maybe it is related to your side updates. Maybe it's related to your emails. Um, have you ever thought about looking back at your most successful emails with the best open and click through rates and repurposing that content if you ever thought about that going back to some social posts from two years ago that performed incredibly well and reusing that content. Has new posts because no one will notice. That's the truth. No one's really going to notice but you now are free in your time to do other things and I believe that this is true even if you have a team um that it's not just especially if you have a team um is give your team the freedom to do this so that way they can focus on the things that are really going to move the needle. Um, and it's nearly not until you end up with a fairly large team that can be focused purely on like think content creation where you really have to worry about new content all the time. Um, so that's my encouragement for you. Ask? why? Why am I focused on this is because I think it's what I'm supposed to do or is it because I know it moves the needle. So I hope that this is an encouragement I'm grateful that you trust me with your time today and obviously please leave a review. That's so helpful. Ah, when you do that subscribe and if there's a retailer you know that you think would be encouraged by this episode, please share it with them. It's all ask so have a great day and I will see you next time.
